Time Trial Tuesday : Nothing To It But To Do It

Let me say this as clearly as possible: your shoes aren’t going to run the miles for you. That shiny new bike isn’t going to magically give you more watts. And that supplement? If it really worked like the ads claim, we’d all be pro athletes by now.

Here’s the truth, and it’s not glamorous: the only thing that moves the needle is YOU doing the work. Not scrolling through gear reviews, not comparing your Garmin data to your buddy’s, not debating whether beet juice is better than pickle juice. The work. Period.

I get it. Marketing is loud. It’s easy to get caught up thinking you’re just one gadget, one recovery tool, one training hack away from the breakthrough. But 99% of the time, that’s just distraction dressed up as “optimization.” You don’t need perfect conditions, perfect equipment, or the perfect pre-race meal. You need sweat. You need consistency. You need to lace up, clip in, or dive in and get after it.

So stop overcomplicating it. Don’t tell me you couldn’t train because your new shoes didn’t arrive yet, or because you were waiting for your “optimal carb powder” to show up from Amazon. That’s not training—that’s procrastination in a fancy costume.

Here’s the reality check: your body doesn’t care about trends, but it does care about effort. Every stride, every pedal stroke, every lap adds up. And if you want results, there’s simply nothing to it but to do it.

Now quit reading this and go train.

*Time Trial Tuesday posts are intended to be short primer posts to get you thinking, but they are also challenges for myself to see how quickly and simply I can get the topic across to all of you. I give myself 5 minutes on the clock to write each one. No filter, No editing, Just the thoughts in my head..... Scary.
